“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat..." Matthew 25

Rev. Dr. Eddie R. Williams, III, born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, is the Senior Pastor of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, a historic church on the west side of Chicago celebrating 103 years of ministry. He’s the son of the late Rev. Dr. E.R. Williams, Sr. Pastor of South Park Baptist Church for 51 years, and Dr. Lottie P. Williams, an Educator for over 40 years.

About
Pastor Williams, III

Since becoming the Pastor in March of 2016, Metro has grown spiritually and numerically through the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. By taking the Gospel outside of the walls of the church, Metro has also been able to feed nearly 5000 people, hosted outdoor baptisms, given away 2000 book bags and supplies to kids for school, hosted free community health screenings, facilitated COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, and provided financial empowerment seminars to the church and surrounding communities. Dr. Williams led the way in the completion of nearly quarter-million dollar renovation of their historic sanctuary, a federal landmark, which remains debt free. Pastor Williams gives God all the Glory for what has taken place in such a short time.

Active in the community, Dr. Williams is on the Board of Directors for Neopolitan Lighthouse, a domestic violence prevention organization. He also is involved in numerous task forces within Chicago that advocate for crime prevention, and police and community relations. He’s led the church in partnership with numerous nonprofits that support single-parent households, men and women’s shelters, record expungements, fair housing, and voter registration…

The Youth

Pastor Williams, a member of the greatest fraternity known to man, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, graduated from Saint Bonaventure University in New York, double-majoring in Finance and Economics. He received his Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Il. On March 4, 2023 at 8:09am, Pastor Williams successfully defended his doctoral dissertation entitled: “Say Bruh: An Equipping Model for Black Men Sharing their Faith,” and graduated from United Theological Seminary earning his Doctor of Ministry.

With the help of the Lord, Dr. Williams is building up Disciples for Christ to make an impact in this world. His ministry is evangelistic in-nature, where he believes in going outside the four walls of the church to bring the lost into the Light of Jesus Christ. His ministry-style embodies the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 25, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me…..whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me…”

On Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 10:30am, he married his best friend Lady Tiffany Michelle who is the love of his life and greatest support. On December 15, 2012, God blessed them with their first-born, a son, Eddie, IV, and on January 20, 2016, God blessed them with their first daughter Brooke Michelle, and on November 13, 2018, another blessing, Elyse Raine. Their final blessing was their dog, a 100-pound Boxer named Ali.
